Bark bark, whine, whine, stalky sticky prey freezing. Did you have any of those behaviors when you trained last? What about when you went to a new place? Or trialed? I mean, my puppy comes out of the crate screaming in anticipation about all the fun things he gets! I don’t know about you, but I look at other dogs heeling happily around without vocalization with envy! I’ve got German Shepherds and that means heeling without sounds coming out of lips is a thing of beauty. Something all we GSD owners strive for and rarely attain. That means that on my 8th GSD, I am basically an EXPERT on high arousal. In this presentation, we’ll go through what high arousal looks like and what behaviors are attached to that label. Then we’ll cover some steps on how to help your dog come back to their brain, how to get less vocalization and stalky prey behaviors and what to do about it!
